Village Government

Documents
DocumentNotes
Village Board Minute Book, 1885-1893This is a remarkable document. Not only does it contain village board proceedings for the first nine years after the incorporation of the Village of Mazomanie, but also it contains two censuses, taken prior to the incorporation of the village. The first census, taken in 1884, just lists heads of household, the number of people in the household, and the location of the household. The second census, from 1885, lists all residents of the village, and the location of the household. These censuses can be especially helpful in research when trying to find where someone lived if they were not property owners.

Elections

Poll lists

Poll lists are lists of everyone who voted in a particular election. These can be extremely handy when trying to determine whether a person lived in a location at a particular time. Below are all of the extant poll lists for the Town of Mazomanie and Village of Mazomanie available from the Wisconsin Historical Society Archives. Also included are poll lists for the Town of Farmersville, Town of Black Earth, and Town of Roxbury, all of which were partial predecessors to the Town of Mazomanie. There are also a few for the Town of Berry and one for the Town of Ray (a brief renaming of the current Town of Black Earth).
